It is not often that the mention of the tax collector will inspire smiles and feelings of respect and admiration. But for Allen C. Clark, Palm Bach County’s tax collector for 17 years, these are only a few of the feelings he inspired in those who knew and loved him. Throughout his lifetime, Allen was devoted to service -- for his country (he earned a Bronze Distinguished Flying Cross in the Air Force) and his community.

"Those who knew him personally will miss his wit and his wisdom and his strength, but the people of the County will remember him most of all for his dedication and competence which set a standard in Palm Beach County that simply will not be surpassed." - DOROTHY H. WILKEN; Former County Commissioner

"Allen C. Clark was a very bright, able and fine gentleman - a patriot and public servant. He was all those things; and he was also a friend." - WARD WAGNER, Attorney

"Allen served many years as a pilot in the Armed Forces, and was very involved in training young people for much of his life. I know he would be delighted to have this scholarship in his name to encourage other young people." -TOM ROSSIN, Flagler National Bank
