The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships this year to 104 high school students.
The deserving students were selected to receive a scholarship based on a written application, test scores, academic success and interviews, which were reviewed by an advisory committee of board members and community volunteers. Individual scholarships ranged in amounts from $1,000 to $26,000 and were awarded to students from 31 high schools across Palm Beach and Martin Counties, with Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Atlantic High School and Lake Worth High School earning the most scholarships.
“We are extremely pleased to award these scholarships to the talented and extraordinarily driven students in our community,”said Bradley Hurlburt, president and CEO, Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. “Through the generosity of our donors, the Community Foundation continues to help students fulfill their educational dreams. Each scholarship recipient is truly deserving.”
The Community Foundation has over 100 scholarship funds that have been established by donors committed to education. Since 1983, the organization has awarded more than $12.5 million in scholarship grants, making it one of the largest providers of scholarships in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. Often named in memory of a loved one, these funds have helped 2,260 students continue their education and attend college for more than three decades.
